Tools needed:
Exacto knife / razor blade
Squeegy
Tape measure / Ruler
Masking tape
Spray bottle full of water with 1 drop dish soap * Optional: for an adhesive accelerator (faster stick, but less forgiving)
use a 1/2 rubbing alcohol 1/2 water spray solution.
Step 1:
Clean the vehicle surface thoroughly. Pay special attention to edges, and cracks that may be hiding dust or grime Step 2: Test fit by holding your vinyl in place with masking tape. Mark position with tape, or tape in place along top edge, allowing you to peel the backing paper.
Step 3: Wet vehicle surface with water solution. Make sure not to get the backing paper wet!
Step 4: Peel backing paper and generously spray adhesive side of vinyl with water solution.
Step 5: Make sure positioning is correct. ( soapy water allows you to slide the vinyl around the surface )
Step 6: If working with solid stripes, or unmasked vinyl, spray top of vinyl before you squeegee to avoid scratches. Step 7: Firmly squeegee vinyl in place, working from center out. Step 8: Spray masking / transfer tape to loosen, and let sit for 5 minutes. Step 9:
Carefully peel back masking / transfer tape, keeping it flat with the surface so you don’t peel up the fresh vinyl. Step 10:
Trim extra overlap along edges with razor blade if needed. Bubbles can be carefully popped with a needle or corner of your razor blade. Step 11:
Go over vinyl with heat gun or hair dryer to speed up drying process if needed.
Step 1:
Trim and seperate your graphics. Step 2: Clean and dry the vehicle surface. Vinyl will stick best to a non waxed surface. Dish soap and water will do the trick. Rubbing alcohol will also provide a well prepared surface.
Step 3: Tape your graphics in place from the top 2 corners. Measure to make sure it is straight and position acording to your liking. When in place, tape down the center for a hinge.
Step 4: Lift one side of the graphic and peel the backing paper off to your center hinge. Cut the backing paper with your exacto knife or scissors. Make sure there is no left over paper dust after making your cut.
Step 5: Hold the vinyl out with one hand and squeegy it down with the other. Do not let the vinyl touch the car before you squeegy it to avoid bubbles. Repeat on the other side.
Step 6: Slowly peel the masking tap back from the vinyl. Keep it flat. You don't want to pull the vinyl up with it.
Step 7: Trim the stripe between door cracks and body pannels, then tuck with a squeegy. Step 8: Pop any bubbles with a needle, or point of an exacto knife.
